The MRI is used to locate the lesion and image the target to help the medical operator guide the surgical tool towards the lesion in a Minimally Invasive Surgical manner. The robots consist of linear and rotary joints that allow positioning and aligning the surgical instrument very precisely under MRI guidance. The use of certain surgical tools also involves ultrasonic guidance for lesion target identification and registration. The intervention is performed under remote control.

The MRI is used to guide the biopsy tool and image the progress of the intervention. MRI guidance provides for higher quality biopsy interventions. The robotic systems are modular and can be adapted to various human sizes from pediatric to adult. The robots consist of linear and rotary joint modules that can be assembled in various orientations for use inside the MRI. The interventions are performed under remote control.
